Welcome to Interlake PTSA!
We're glad you are here. Our job as your PTSA is to help create and nurture the connection between home, school, and the community that tells students we care, tells teachers we support them, and tells parents they are not alone...we are all in this together.
Becoming a member of Interlake PTSA is one way to say "I Care about Interlake students!"

"MARDI GRAS MADNESS" -- ALL SCHOOL AUCTION, SATURDAY MARCH 10!
**For information on how to sign up to attend, how to donate and to get a preview of all the fabulous auction items procured so far, go to the Auction website: https://secure.maestroweb.com/default.aspx?OrgID=147
Each family at Interlake plays an important part in the success of our 18th annual Interlake High School Auction to be held on March 10th, 2012. Over the last few years, the Booster Club, PTSA and Music Parents Association have all joined together to organize one auction benefitting all students at Interlake. As you know, funding from the State is continually under pressure, while Interlake's growth and our continued commitment to help our kids succeed in academics, athletics and music have stretched our resources thin. Auction co-chairs, Dana Tavener and Liz Stulz are working tirelessly to make this a fun and successful evening!
How can you help?
1. Attend the Auction! Organize a table of 8 or 9 of your friends or just sign up and we'll seat you at a table with other parents who have students in your child's graduating class of who share similar athletic or music interests. Dinner tickets to the Auction cost $75 per person.
2. Donate an item to the Auction! Creativity rules here and there is no need to be expensive! Parties, get-a-ways and dinners always sell well. A really popular item: 4 guys & 2 trucks...basically you haul unwanted items to the Goodwill, the dump, or a non-profit organization of the buyer's choice. Pastry Chef for a year...allows a family to receive a delivered dessert item once a month for a year. Sunset on the lake...the winner of this bid is taken out on the Lake for a nice sunset with appetizers and drinks. Poker party...cards, chips, beer, and lots of fun! Dinner theme party...you select a theme, the amount of people to attend, and the location then watch the bids fly. Vacation rentals...have a cabin or time share to spare for a weekend? Fishing trips...do you have that favorite fishing spot/hole that catches the biggest fish on the river or lake; pack a picnic lunch and don't forget your fishing tales.
Contact your class parent representative to find out how you can donate to a specific item that each class has designated:

3. Volunteer with planning or at the night of the Auction! Planning meetings are held once a month--if you would like to help out with planning or work the night of the Auction, we can find a spot for you! Contact one of the Auction co-chairs, Dana or Liz, for more information: bulacat@hotmail.com or lisbethstulz@hotmail.com
The PTSA will be receiving 35% of the net income from the Auction. Ten percent of this will go towards the PTSA general fund and the remainder will be split 5 ways between each class (to support funding for senior class graduation parties) and the Interlake Music Parents Association (music booster club). In addition, PTSA, Music and Booster club will have specific "fund and items" during a special portion of the auction. The PTSA has decided that our fund an item will be an additional computer cart for the school. The computer cart will allow students to have access to a computer in a classroom setting to assist with the curriculum being taught. We currently only have 2 carts available for the entire school, which when first purchased, was adequate to cover roughly 700 students. This year's enrollment is at 1400+ students, so the need for an additional cart is vital to the education of our students.
Announcements
First Semester Finals Week (Revised): January 30 - February 1
Due to the three "snow" days, Finals week for the first semester has been pushed back to January 30 - February 1. Students will be on a special class schedule during finals week. Please note that there will be only one lunch during those three days: January 30 and 31 lunch will begin at 11:45; on Wednesday, February 1, lunch will start at 10:00.
Revised School Schedules
Also as a result of the three missed school days, the District has scheduled two snow make-up days:
The first snow make-up day will occur on Monday, January 30 for middle and high school students (this was originally a professional day for grades 6-12) and Friday, March 16 for elementary students (this was originally a professional day for grades K-5).
The second snow make-up day will occur on Friday, June 22 for all students.
There is some uncertainty about the third snow make-up day, based on what the State might allow in terms of waivers. We will share this information with you as soon as we have an update.
Volunteers STILL needed to fill PTSA positions for this school year!
Reflections: The PTSA Reflections Program, a student competition of original arts, dance, poetry/spoken word, music, etc., is starting up at schools across the District. This year's theme is "Diversity Means . . . ." The Interlake PTSA is looking for a parent, or a parent and student to chair this program for Interlake Students. If you would like to take this opportunity to work with our incredibly talented Interlake students, please contact Candace Isenhour, VP Programs, by phone at 253-495-9402 for more information.
Legislative Liaison: If you are interested in legislative processes and news, school funding, and how it applies to Bellevue School District, schools, and families, we need you to be Interlake PTSA's legislative parent representative. If you'd like to attend any of the following: the PTSA's State Legislative Assembly on Oct 14 & 15 in SeaTac, attend twice monthly school board meetings (Tues. 4:30 p.m.), monthly Bellevue PTSA council meeting (1st Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m.), and attend other meetings of legislative interest to keep up with changes within the district and at the State level, this position would be for you! You'd also coordinate parents and students to go to Olympia on February 20 for WSPTA Focus Day to meet with State Legislators, etc. A primary part of your job would be to report on issues that affect our school community.
ATTENTION MICROSOFT EMPLOYEES!
Microsoft will match your PTSA volunteer hours at Interlake with real dollars! Payments will be made to Interlake PTSA every quarter. You must fill out paperwork through Microsoft, but it is a simple process and very worthwhile to the PTSA! Follow these simple steps.

ORCA/METRO BUS SERVICE CHANGE
Parents & students should check to insure the Metro bus route they currently ride, isn't changing. New routes are now posted on King County Metro web site. Route information can be found on their website by going into the trip planner and entering a date after October 1st or accessing the website at: http://metro.kingcounty.gov/
For example, Route 230 will no longer pass next to Interlake High School. Routes 226 & 249 will pass by the school.
The new Route 226 will cover NE 24th Street and 164th Ave. NE by Interlake High School and takes the place of current routes 233 and 245. In addition, New Route 226 will be able to take students from Interlake to Bellevue College and vice versa. For more information about new Route 226, go to Metro at:
http://metro.kingcounty.gov/up/sc/rideralert/2011/oct/route-226-effective-october-1-2011.html
The New Rapid B Line is an express bus route which operates much more frequently along NE 8th and other main streets and goes through the Overlake Park & Ride at 152nd Ave. NE but has fewer stops. All of its busses are the double/articulated busses. If you change busses and are riding the Rapid B Line bus, you will need to get a transfer slip from the bus driver to show that you have already paid for your ride.
