Interlake High School PTSA  

The Reflections Program is a National PTA arts competition for students from Pre-K through Grade 12. 

It provides an opportunity for students to express themselves creatively through original works of art inspired by an annual theme. 

Important Dates 

  • Interlake High School Submission Deadline: 
    Monday, November 10, 2025, by 8:00 PM 
    (Late submissions cannot be accepted.)

Competition Levels 

Interlake High School entries will first be judged at the school level. 
Selected artworks will advance to the Bellevue Council level, with opportunities to progress to state and national recognition. 

Divisions 

Students enter according to their grade, in one of these divisions: 

  • Primary — Pre-K through Grade 2 
  • Intermediate — Grades 3 through 5 
  • Middle School — Grades 6 through 8 
  • High School — Grades 9 through 12 
  • Accessible Arts — All grades (students requiring accommodations) 

At Interlake High School PTSA, students compete under the High School Division (Grades 9–12). 

Categories 

Students may submit original works in one or more of the following categories (within their division): 

  • 🩰 Dance Choreography – An original dance composition. 
  • 🎬 Film Production – An original film including animation, narrative, documentary, experimental, or music video. 
  • ✍️ Literature – Original fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, drama, or lyrics. 
  • 🎼 Musical Composition – An original music composition, with or without lyrics. 
  • 📸 Photography – Color or black-and-white photos, including photogram or multiple exposure techniques. 
  • 🎨 Visual Arts – Drawing, painting (tempera, oil, acrylic, watercolor, etc.), digital art, collage, printmaking, and mixed media. 

How to Participate 

Step 1: Create Your Artwork 

  • The work must be new and original, created specifically for the 2025–2026 theme “I Belong!” 
  • All ideas and execution must be the student’s own work. 

Step 2: Choose a Title 

Select a meaningful and creative title that expresses your interpretation of the theme. 

Step 3: Digitize Your Work 

  • Visual Arts: A high-resolution scan is preferred (scanner available at Bellevue Downtown Library, 2nd floor). 
  • If using a phone, ensure the photo is well-lit, evenly aligned, and at least 300 dpi resolution. 
  • Other categories: Record or photograph clearly with good lighting and sound. 

Step 4: Write Your Artist Statement 

Your statement (typed only, no handwriting) should: 

  • Be 10–100 words long. 
  • Explain how your artwork reflects the theme “I Belong!” 
  • Be saved as a Word document (.doc or .docx).

Step 5: Complete the Student Entry Form 

  • Download the official fillable PDF entry form Student Entry Form (fillable PDF) 
    • Fill in all required fields: 
    • Student name, grade, age 
    • Parent/guardian contact information 
    • Category and division 
    • Title of artwork 
    • Artist Statement (typed again within the form) 
    • Signature section 
    • If any digital tools or AI-assisted elements were used, describe them in “Additional Details.” 

    File name example:

Step 6: Submit Your Entry via Google Form 

All entries must be submitted through the official IHS PTSA Reflections Google Form. 
Email submissions will not be accepted.

File Naming Format 

Please name your files clearly according to the following format: 

category_division_title_studentname_artwork 

category_division_title_studentname_entryform 

Example (High School Division, Grades 9-12): 

VisualArt_High_IBelong_JamieDoe_artwork 

VisualArt_High_IBelong_JamieDoe_entryform 

Notes: 

  • Replace “JamieDoe” with your full name or initials. 
  • Avoid spaces; use underscores (_) if needed. 
  • Replace “VisualArt” with “Music,” “Film,” “Dance,” etc., depending on your category. 

Submission Guidelines 

  • Each entry must be the student’s own, individual work. 
  • Typed artist statements only (no handwriting). 
  • For music composition entries, notation is required for middle and high school divisions. 
  • Any use of digital or AI tools must be clearly disclosed in the entry form. 
  • Submissions will only be accepted through the official Google Form linked above.
